Medical Secretary Full Time

COVID vaccine will be required unless medical / religious exemption. Seeking a Bilingual Medical Secretary for BCHP's Hem/Onc Division. Pay rate will be approx. $25/hr-$26/hr, negotiable based on experience

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

  • Performs administrative, secretarial, clerical and billing related duties work to support the division

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in billing and insurance claim submissions and reconciliations
  • Answers telephones, schedules appointments, screens calls, takes messages and provides patient information according to division policy and procedure
  • Updates patient information as necessary, provides support services to patients and medical staff
  • Requests, locates, sends, receives and/or prepares patient medical records
  • Verifies insurance ensuring proper procedures are followed as necessary to complete the billing process
  • Prepares charts, obtains referrals, confirms patient appointments
  • Assists Division Head with appointments
  • Coordinates and sets up interviews for potential recruitments
  • Processes invoices and check requests
  • Provides administrative support for Division Chief
  • Assists Office Manager in his/her administrative duties
  • Assists Billing Coordinator in daily duties
  • NextGen proficient
  • Review and complete NextGen tasking
  • Assists NPs and Attendings with all authorizations
  • Resolves patient questions and concerns
  • Clerical duties including typing, copying, filing, faxing
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities accordingly. May be requested to perform other duties as necessary to ensure the smooth functioning of the office
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality in accordance with BCHP policy and HIPAA regulations

  • Ability to adapt to new and unusual situations or changes without affecting performance
  • Performs job duties and work is accomplished within appropriate time standards determined by division
  • Regularly reports to work when scheduled. Reports back from meal break within allotted time frame
  • Maintains a professional appearance and neatness as outlined by BCHP guidelines
  • Understands and performs job duties and responsibilities
  • Provides patients and staff with assistance when situation arises
  • Actively participates as a team member by supporting decisions, accepting change, managing conflict effectively and valuing the contribution of others
